  1. Really cool designs!
Don't listen to the negativity, any poor soul chosen would have been torn apart no matter how great a job they did.
Btw, Sylvester lost like a foot in hight! He's Porky sized now, haha.

  6. I don't like the look of Porky but most of the rest look superb, especially Petunia.

You did a great job with Daffy, Wile E.Coyote and Sylvester. And I like to see Gossamer and With Hazel are part of the cast. Can't wait to see them in motion!

  7. I simply adore these designs. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult it must have been taking on this task with all their history. Fantastic job, Jessica!

  10. The designs are really nice. You remained faithful to the characters while making minor tweaks to update the animation. By the way, you are cute.

Jessica, your designs are on Cartoon Brew again. So much hate for these drawings, not just on Cartoon Brew, but on other cartoon-related forums I often read. At the same time, however, there's a lot of support from the animation community for these drawings. You can read the interesting discussion there.

Don't listen to what any of the haters have to say, especially when the majority of them are just cowards who can't even draw themselves or post anything better than what you've accomplished. I'm only 15, copying from tons and tons of old cartoon comics and frame grabs with construction and learning a lot from them, but even I can clearly see that your designs are really appealing and stylish.

  19. @adriana: I don't think it's so much that people have an axe to grind as that people hate change, and people on the Internet are always going to find something to complain about.

Complaining that the Looney Tunes cast always needs to look a certain way and should never change is, of course, very silly; they evolved dramatically over the years the original shorts were made. The fact that Warner's willing to foster some experimentation (while still keeping the spirit of the characters, unlike, say, Loonatics Unleashed) gives me some optimism that they're willing to nurture the same kind of creativity that made the originals as incredible as they were.

Jessica, as well as the writers, cast, and everybody else involved in this production, have some damned big shoes to fill, but if the final production is as good as those designs, they'll fill them well.

Oh, and hey, speaking of voice actors, I see Eric Bauza's in the thread. Hi Eric!

  20. I actually like them quite a lot overall. You were gentle with the redesign and as a lover of classic cartoons I really appreciate that. The only complaint I have is that the visual weight they have has me looking at their feet before anything else. Otherwise, good stuff!

  21. excellent job, keeping the 60's style of the characters but with a more modern and dynamic design, that's so win !

  23. You've repainted the Sistine Chapel...nice job!

  31. These designs are so awesome. Mckimson/Clampett/Jones with a hint of Freleng.

Is this an expensive production with high quality animation, Jessica?

  34. I have to admit, when I first heard the looney tunes were being redesigned, I imagined the worst (i.e. loonatics), but I like these designs you've done. They're fresh, but I see a lot of the original attitudes in them.

I hope the writing and direction is of a similar quality!

  38. If you have connection with this show's musical dept, tell them to hire London Elektricity into this.
They're doing Big Band DnB with a lot of Looney Jazz influences.

    Here's their Myspace:

Good luck with your project. Really satisfied to see how this will end up.

  39. While the designs are good, I just wish Joe or Heff did Daffy's voice.

I should also point out that Thad is lying and really hate those designs:

  42. Love these. They really do a great job of staying true to the originals while updating them with modern looks.

I was wondering something recently. This is more 'food for thought' then anything, but - Would Bugs work without the white gloves? I know it's cartoon tradition, but none of the other characters wear them, and it's sort of an antiquated fashion statement nowadays. He'd look pretty much the same if he just had white hands, like Sylvester does, plus he wouldn't have that strange, partially-clothed look going on.

Anyway, not saying you should change a thing, but I felt like bringing that up, and who better to say it to then the lady who drew them. :)

  44. Hey Jess. Don't worry about the haters. I think these are kinda cool. I even tried to defend you in one of my own posts. Hope the show goes well.
